If you find your self in Salt Lake and have Tetsu who was head Sushi Chef at the Mikado and know ownes GINZA make you wonderful and large Hand Rolls. I had Spicy Scallop,Spicy Tuna, the Striped Bass Hand Roll with Yellow Tail Sashimi. I am looking forward to going back next time there is another Trade show there." |

| "I was very unhappy with the service here. If you are a serious sushi connoisseur I would not recommend the happy sumo. Nothing spectacular fishwise and most of the rolls are california rolls with different toppings on top. Most with too much mayo and unagi sauce! I would have to say it's the Mcdonalds of sushi.

| "The Happy Sumo is the most amazing place in Utah to go for sushi. The atmosphere is so cool without being too pretentious. It also has the most amazing sushi ever! I've been to just about every place in SLC for sushi, and NO PLACE compares to the Sumo! I recently went back to the Sumo after being away for a trip and they had updated their menu with so many new rolls! I am addicted to the Baked Lobster Roll, Rock Shrimp Roll, and the Lotus Roll. Oh and they have new desserts, although Mount Fugi will always be my fav, I loved, loved, loved The Chocolate Trilogy. I don't know how they do it, but they always have the freshest, tastiest sushi. I recommend the Happy Sumo to everyone who loves great sushi!

While a little off the beaten path, Jasmine is certainly a little find. Known mostly for
their chinese food, Jasmine also houses a complete sushi bar, with a Japanese chef, fish flown in
daily, and innovative rolls. The fish selection is small, but the quality seems excellent.
Portions are small for rolls, but fish by the piece is very generous. Definitely a high-quality
restaurant, with post-and-beam construction, an outdoor patio by a stream, and thoughtful
decorations. Ike, the japanese chef (Hasimoto-San) is still working on his English, but the
language barrier is easy to ignore once he starts making innovative dishes and rolls on the house
:) It's definitely a very nice restaurant, and though they are aware of this fact, it is not at
all pretentious.

| "That Mikado was disappointing is to say the least. The night I went there they had run out of Edamame (can you believe that from a Japanese restaurant?), the server asked me not to order sushi because they were 'too busy' and it would have taken over 35 minutes to get two pieces of Maguro! The Miso Soup was definitely one to forget. The Miso Marinated Sea Bass was acceptable.
In conclusion I would not recommended this place.

Reviews: | "We have been to nearly every sushi bar in Utah, and Shogun is BY FAR the best. It is the best simply because they have the largest selection of the freshest fish. They have many things that are usually only found in Japan. This is not Americanized sushi, but the real thing. Takashi is the head sushi chef, and everything he makes is just fantastic. Make sure you sit at the sushi bar!" |

| "Shogun gets much of its fish directly from Tsukiji, the center of all things sushi imho. If you want japanese food with the quality of service and attention you´d get in Japan, go to Shogun. The other sushi restaurants in Utah serve rolls and only work for an American appetite." |

| "Anyone who knows me, know´s I´am a sushiaholic. And who would know good sushi better? Shogun is the best there is. Out of the 13 different sushi bars, in 5 different states, that I´ve eaten at so far. Shogun still has the freshest and most extensive variety of fish, expertly prepaired in the largest variety of different ways. Once you have experienced Shogun, this is what you will compare everything else too. Takashi is a master of his trade, that is always creating delicious new items that are only available at Shogun. A special thanks to Takashi and all of the wonderful staff at Shogun that have made every visit a uniquely increditable meal. Thanks for making me feel at home. I´ll see you there tonight (1/8/2000) and as often as possible in the future." |
