"Daruma is the only "authentic sushi bar and Japanese restaurant" in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area. All of the others are either off-brand Benny Hanna type chain restaurants, or other nationalities impersonating Japanese dining. Daruma is small, friendly and family run. If you want a "quick" meal this is not the place for you, but if you want a "great dinner" Daruma is the "best in town"! "

"Great place. Contrary to last comment by someone else, more food than you can eat. Great house sauce that is not served at any other restaurants. Most all of the chefs are from Japan or have lived there at one point. The oldest and best on the beach!!!!! "

Review: | "Opened in 1999.If you love sushi, you will love Sugami. If you DON'T love sushi, you will STILL love Sugami! Dark, lovely and exotic; with perfect lighting and beautiful sushi presentation. Also offers excellent Hibachi grill items - luscious seared tuna with sesame. Love the bar - excellent selection of Japanese beers and sake! Fun hangout spot for locals craving something a little different. " |
