Reviews: | "Sushi is great and the service speedy if you sit at the bar. Taking a seat in a private booth may mean a longer wait, and less satisfaction." |

| " On my first visit to this place, I was really disappointed. The sushi was not the
greatest. I asked the sushi chef in Japanese 'omakase' which means chefs choice (preferably)
fresh. Instead, I received the combination that was not very good at all. I love uni, but at this
place I received a not so fresh pick of uni, it was crunchy with a foul taste. I will not be
returning to this place anytime in the near future.

| " Sushi is great (try Terry's Special Roll) or have Terry whip up a special roll for
you.Their combination bentos are delicious too, but the only problem I had was finishing my meal
(The proportions were GENEROUS). Not only is this place wonderful, but they spend time making sure
their presentation of their dishes were just as great. Servers there are really friendly, compared
to some of the *other* places that I have been to. Now that I found this place, I won't go
anywhere else.

| " I am from Japan and I have tried many of the Japanese Restaurants in Portland, but
I really like Kappaya. It is very authentic. I feel at home when I eat here. Everything is
delicious. " |

| "On Friday Feb 23, 2001, I read in the Arts and Entertainment that there was an
*authentic* Japanese Restaurant in the neighborhood. The person who wrote about this place was
right! I loved the variety. The sushi was tasty. I ordered some appetizers from the kitchen too,
their tempura appetizer was bigger than other places and it was delightfully delicious. I ended up
taking food home that night. I over did it and ordered way too much. I just couldn't help myself,
everything there was so delicious. My server was right, they do give a lot of food. I can't wait to
go back!!!

| "Everytime I go to Kappaya I can expect to get good service and food. I have been a
regular since the time they opened. From the time I walk into the door my miso and drink are at
the table. Talk about great service, their server remembers everything that I am about to order.
I am treated like a part of the family when I go. That's why I keep going back. The foodi is
great and so is the sushi. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

Reviews: | "An oasis of calm in midst of the ever-changing Old Town neighborhood, Obi is an
unpretentious dining outpost that serves up super sushi and sashimi. One of the best and most
reasonable places to satisfy your sushi cravings, it also has highly original names for many of its
menu items. Ask sushi man Masahide Arima to roll you a favorite, the Tiger Eyes: salmon surrounded
by squid and ringed with nori. Look for traditional Japanese hot dishes like teriyaki and tempura,
too.--Byron Beck

Reviews: | "The servings are big and the lines long in this heralded sushi bar and japanese restaurant. The restaurant´s namesake is also the master chef. Show up early or take a seat on the streetside bench - either way it´s worth the wait!" |
| - Daniel Wilmes (westadv@aracnet.com) [April 16th 1998] |
| "There is always a line at this informal hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The waiting list is self serve and the waiting area is out on the sidewalk. So put your name on the list, count the number of people in front of you, and think about taking a walk around the corner for a microbrew or cocktail. Come back in 30 minutes and your table might almost be ready.
When you order your food, order a lot. It is so tasty that you can just keep eating and eating even though the servings are extra-extra large. But you only get one chance to order, and when you're done it's time to clear out to make way for the next party in line. Yes, it sounds like a restaurant from 'Seinfeld', but there is a good reason the lines are so long -- it's the best!

Reviews: | "Opened in early 2000, it is
Portland's first (and probably only) sushi buffet. Not the best sushi in Portland, but after new management improved the rolls in 2005, it's a better bet, especially since it's all you can eat. Dinner is $23 ($24 on weekends & holidays). Includes crab legs, mini-lobster, numerous salads, cooked items, soups, desserts, and about 40 kinds of sushi. All the standards plus occasional exotics.

| "Todai really grosses me out. There are TONS of people reaching their hands into the food, and the food tastes like what it is--buffet food. It's pretty bad. I was afraid I was going to get sick after I ate there. Plus, it's super expensive.
