"Cha Yoon has a fantastic atmosphere, efficient service and the best sushi in Saint Louis. Try the Central West End Roll or if you like something spicy, try the Red Dragon or Spicy Tuna. "

- Chris Dong (chrisdong@aol.com) [January 18th 1999]
"My friend and I tried this place once before. Service was horrible. There was only two tables with customers and I was at one of them. We felt like we were ignored during the time we were there. To make matters worse we both got sick after the meal. I will NEVER go back and NEVER recommend this place to anyone EVER. "

Phone:(636) 386-8999
Fax:(636) 386-8998
Opened:Lunch and dinner
Reviews:"Nippon Tei overcomes its strip mall location with an elegant decor and elegant furniture. It opened in February, 2001, and the fact it has a Thai owner does not keep it from serving excellent sushi. Both the adults and the teenager in our group enjoyed the food. A nice touch: you can order 'Sushi 101' an assortment of non-raw sushi for the faint of heart. "
- Doug Schneider (ParadiseMO@aol.com) [May 11th 2001]
"This is the best sushi place in the suburbs! My friends and I gather there at least once a week to eat some of their spicy tuna hand rolls, which are the best in the World! You must try one, once you do, you will be hooked! "
- Stacey S. (Smsommer15@yahoo.com) [Dec 13th 2004]
"A wonderful lunch spot! Who says you have work close to the city or CWE to get good sushi for lunch? My co-workers and I eat there at least once a week. Good , fresh sushi at a great price (lunch specials come with soup, salad, one roll and 3 pieces for $7.95) One Tip : The service can be rather slow even when there seems to be no one else in the place - tell them you are in a hurry and it can be a very speedy lunch! "

- Dan[June 21st 2000]
"Good sushi takes time. The three of us agree that Sansui has the best sushi in town. The restaurant rates a 100% - cannot be improved in any way. A cheerful talkative sushi chef makes sitting at the counter here a real treat. "

Seki

Name:Seki Japanese Restaurant
Address:6335 Delmar, St. Louis, MO
Phone:(314) 726-6477
Reviews:"Sushi Bar, wine and beer served."
"Best Sushi in St. Louis. Only Seki himself creates the Sushi. During peak traffic you may have to wait a bit. It´s worth it."
- Kenn Damgaard (Kenn K Damgaard@MBI.Mercantile.com) [June 8th 1998]
"Best in St. Louis - I've been to all these listed. The Bento #1 is really great on the lunch menu."
- Trish (greypatches@hotmail.com) [August 30th 2000]
"The restaurant is named after its sushi chef, Seki, who has 40 years experience making sushi. The restaurant has an authentic Japanese feel: you walk down a corridor with a large case displaying wax food, and you are met with a Japanese greeting shouted by the chef or the waitresses when you enter. The layout of the restaurant, the artifacts on the wall, and the Japanese TV piped in by satellite all add to the authenticity. Seki's sushi is all good, and the prices are reasonable (miso soup and green tea come free with sushi orders!). However, the restaurant charges you extra if you need extra wasabi. Nice touch: no cellphones allowed at the sushi counter. "

St. Louis Fish Market

Name:St. Louis Fish Market
Address:Embassy Suites Hotel, 901 North Fist Street, St. Louis, MO
Phone:(314) 621-4612
Opened:Mon-Fri: 11am-1pm, Sat- Sun:4pm - 1pm
Reviews:"Located in historic Laclede's Landing, this sushi bar is part of a seafood restaurant, not part of a Japanese restaurant. Do not let this deter you from dining here. The sushi bar at the St. Louis Fishmarket is not extensive (no quail eggs, for example), but all the basics are covered. The quality level is high, and the portions are large and satisfying. The chef, Edwin Silva, apprenticed for nine years under one of the local sushi stars. Edwin says that there are plans to expand. We would jump at the chance to go back to the St. Louis Fish Market for sushi. "
- Bill Jost/Yoshi Matsumoto/Doug Schneider (ParadiseMO@aol.com) [June 26th 2001]
"With my wife for her birthday we visited St.Louis to see her old home and church and school. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and went down for Seafood dinner. Their three person Sushi Bar was open though we went to a table for dinner. I started with Oyster Sampler 15 different oysters and then from the Sushi list had Sashimi of Maguro, Yellowtail, Salmon and Sea Bass. Followed by a yelly tail spicy hand roll. The St. Louis Fish Market has a good listing of Cigars with the two best being the DON DIEGO PLAYBOY and the COHIBA ROBUSTO and with there 20 Single Malt Scotch and nine Cognac they have REMY MARTIN LOUIS XIII at $140 a shot, with there over 200 wine bottle list is a good place to go and eat. Opened:Mon-Thu: 11.30am-2pm,5pm-10pm, Fri: 11.30am-2pm,5pm-10.30pm, Sat,Sun 5pm-10pm
Reviews:"Very Japanese like setting, have some ´cubicles´ (separated by curtains) for more Japanese-like dining. Very pricey, but the fishes are fresh."
- Muljadi Budiman (budiman@mo.net) [November 17th 1997]
"Very average. Atmosphere is rather busy and there are grills behind the sushi bar that make for a little too much traffic. I really don´t like to see employees moving in and out of the kitchen around the bar. HOWEVER, if you can do a carry out, the fish is average to a little above, the rolls are better than the sushi, the portions are better than average, and the price is very fair."
- John Strong (john@strongs.net) [August 21st 1998]
"My friends and I enjoy sushi at Tachibana's. We go there often and keep recommending Tachibana to all our friends. The Sushi Chef, Kenji-san, is friendly and very good in preparing excellent sushi. "
- Eileen Chant (khunying_noi@yahoo.com) [January 3rd 2001]
"They turned my eel into charcoal, then served it to me. The wife ordered tsukiyaki with chicken, the first time it came without chicken. We sent it back. They forgot about us. 30 minutes later after complaining, she got to eat. The sushi was small (about as thick as your finger) and nasty. Will never return. "
- Bill (mrbill01@charter.net) [April 7th 2006]
"I think Tachibana is great. The servers are always friendly and the atmosphere is great. Their rolls are the best in town and their fish is usually great. "

- Munsok So (munsok@sbcglobal.net) [March 23rd 2004]
"Sushi is pretty high-priced here, but you are paying for the very trendy atmosphere. "
- Doug Schneider (ParadiseMO@aol.com) [June 1st 2005]
"Drunken Fish has a new location in the Central West End. The sushi chef from the Westport place went along, and Tom is a fantastic chef. The biggest drawback is that it is easily the most expensive place to get sushi in St. Louis."
