| Review: | " This is a really quint restaurant with about 15 tables. The owners, Barbara and Eddie Nishida, do all of the cooking. Barbara is the sushi chef. She makes custom orders then names the sushi rolls after the customer when (if) it goes onto the menu. The fish is outstanding and after commercial fishing for over 25 years, I am somewhat "educated" in the area of fresh fish. Eddie goes down to the fish market every day to pick out the "best" catch of the day. Also, all of the vegatables used in the sushi is grown locally in the Salinas Valley---absolutely the BEST! All of this and the prices are reasonable when compared to sushi restaurants and bars in metropolitan areas. Whether you're a connoisseur of sushi or a "first timer", ICHIBAN offers the some of the best sushi I've enjoyed ANYWHERE. I was truly surprised by this small, but outstanding restaurant. I might add that even though it was evident that this place is frequented by a lot of locals, us "tourists" were treated especially well. For a party of eight, that's saying a lot! " |
