Review: | " Edo Kirin - owned by Japanese beer company Kirin - is the only place in Perth for the true sushi connoisseur. Attentive service, great view and, of course, magnificent sushi. All of their basics - tuna, salmon, snapper, salmon and sea urchin roes, squid, prawn, ark shell and egg - are top quality and often presented with an exciting twist. For instance, squid sashimi may be served with salmon roe, salmon with shiso leaves and octopus with a miso-sesame sauce. There´s also an amazing variety of seasonal exotics including dhufish, red emperor, cobbia, swordfish, cuttlefish, sardine, herring, lobster and a few kinds of whiting. One of the most memorable things we´ve eaten there - scallops shucked at the counter, split and flash seared on the eel grill and served as nigiri with a side salad including bit-and-pieces from inside the scallop shell. Mmmmm! And if you´re into hot food, Hiro-san (the best chef who usually works Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays) does the wickedest spicy tuna handroll using four different kinds of chilli. For the best possible experience, sit at the bar, let Hiro know you appreciate fine sushi and ask him to make you something special. Enjoy!" |

Reviews: | "Excellent sushi with the best rice ever tasted. The sushi is very cheap compared to any other so call cheap sushi in Perth. Being a Japanese and a fussy sushi eater, IŽve tried several outlets in Perth from small shops to large ones but nothing in Perth comes close to JAS Sushi. They also have a wide variety of Japanese groceries in their store making it an excellent place to shop for Japaneses products and confectionery. If I have the money IŽll open a franchise shop with JAS Sushi, an exceptional concept with conducive environment." |

" I am in the restaurant business running a restaurant in East Perth. I have tried many 'so-called' Japanese Sushi in Perth but the best I've found for value for money is JAS Sushi. They give you the choice in their nice individual packed sushi and their Sushi Platters are the best priced in Perth. I bought some for a function I held and everybody wants to know where's this 'secret' shop at. Well, I just gave them JAS Sushi phone no. Try it...you just want to find a reason to celebrate. "

- Roberto Piersanti [December 18th 1997]
"Conveyor-belt sushi restaurant Jaws is now a chain. A new outlet has opened in the Cinema City complex, a block from Perth´s Hay Street Mall. Both the original store and the new one serve quality sushi. It´s fresh, it´s quick (unless you eat as much as we do!) and it´s cheap. Free all-you-can drink tea. Cinema City outlet has conveyor-side booths for large groups and a tempura bar."
